Player Characters

  • Peter Donia (Andy): Ex-Cygnaran naval soldier specializing in ship-to-ship boarding.
  • Conlyth Trivassi (Colin): Rynnish diplomat and spy gone independent with the fall of his country.
  • Mr. Garrett Darcy (Jon): Caspian merchant prince and rake; the captain of the Skybreaker.
  • Logan Cassock (DZ): An old military sniper tired, but not of life

  • Luca Brant: First mate of Skybreaker, close confidant of both the previous and current captain.
  • Andrew Darcy: Garret Darcy's father and one of the creators of airship technology. Disappeared under mysterous circumstances.
  • Daniel McGrath: Arcane Mechanik in Caspia who helped Andrew Darcy with airship design and maintenance.
  • Allister Caine: Gunmage and warcaster, one of the Cygnaran Reconnaissance Service's top agents.
  • Trevor Walther: The overqualified (and now retired) captain of the guard at Caspia's prison.

Guns

The following 4 categories of guns replace those found in the IK rulebook.

  • small pistol: d8 damage, 19-20/x3 crit, 1 full-round action to reload
  • standard pistol: d10 damage, 19-20/x3 crit, 1 full-round action to reload
  • heavy pistol: 2d6 damage, 19-20/x3 crit, 1 full round action to reload
  • standard rifle: d12 damage, 19-20/x3 crit, 1 full-round action to reload
  • heavy rifle: 2d8 damage, 19-20/x3 crit, 2 full-round actions to reload

Prices and ranges are determined by the particular make and size of the gun. All guns are inherently more able to penetrate armor than any prior weapons and thus ignore half of all armor bonuses to AC.

With the exception of the heavy rifle, all of the above guns come in multi-barrel and revolver configurations. Multi-barrel pistols have 4 barrels, multi-barrel rifles have 3 barrels, revolver pistols have 6 chambers, and revolver rifles have 4 chambers. The multi-barrel configurations cost 200 gp more than the list weapon cost and the revolver configurations cost 300 gp more than the list cost. In any event, it takes a full-round action to fully reload a the chambers or barrels of such a gun.

The rapid reload feat reduces full-round action reloads to a standard action and 2 full-round action reloads to 1 full-round action. Characters with speedloaders may use them to load a pistol as a standard action, with rapid reload reducing it further to a move-equivalent action.

A pistol can be forged into the hilt of a sword, but both must be masterwork and the pistol's cost is doubled. Light weapons must use a small pistol, but 1-handed and 2-handed weapons can make use of a standard pistol. A rifle simply requires too much metal to avoid unbalancing the sword using current techniques. Similarly, it is not possible to mount a multi-barrel or revolver configured pistol in the hilt of sword.

Skills & Feats

  • Two-Pistol Fighting and Two-Weapon Fighting (along with their follow on feats) are one in the same.
  • Craft (small arms) is no longer used for reloading and maintaining firearms (that's rolled into Exotic Weapon Proficiency for small arms) and the skill is now synonymous with Craft (gunsmithing).
